When using BGA packages in your design work, creating circuit board prototypes is challenging due to the difficulty and expense. BGA (ball grid array) packages are complex and require expensive processes or sockets for use in circuit board prototype designs. With the introduction of SchmartBoard|ez circuit boards, Schmartboard has resolved this issue. Now anyone, even a 10 year old, can hand solder BGA components quickly, easily, flawlessly and inexpensively.
The unique SchmartBoard|ez circuit board system, which utilizes pre placed solder and cavities for the balls of the bottom of the BGA to make placement and soldering easy, is the key to its success. The BGA is easily placed on the SchmartBoard|ez circuit board so that all the balls are on the pads. One then simply touches the soldering iron to pass-through vias on the backside of the Schmartboard circuit board.
If you are prototyping a circuit that has BGA components, you have 3 choices. Have expensive custom PCBs fabricated and have it populated with the BGA, buy expensive and sometimes custom made sockets, or buy an inexpensive SchmartBoard|ez circuit board.
